'18 Vayasu' is no adolescent love story or candy floss romance but an emotional ride that speaks about a traumatized youngster. Lot was expected from director Johnny and director Panneerselvam after their 'Renigunta'. They have come together again and they do not disappoint. Johnny plays a tricky role while newcomer Gayathri, Yuvarani and Rohini are there to add some suspense elements. Johnny plays Karthi, a mentally disturbed youth. He gives right expressions and Gayathri has a nice screen presence and utilizes the opportunity well. The movie is about Karthi (Johnny) who develops psychological disorder after seeing his father committing suicide. He displays the characteristics of any animal he comes across, when he is anxious or under pressure. As he grows up, he meets Gayathri, an orphan. Gayathri is harassed by her caretaker. Karthi is ill-treated by his mother. Also her life with her paramour affects him a lot. It is all set for Karthi and Gayathri to enter wedlock. One day, Karthi kills his mother. Gayathri gets shocked when she comes to know about it. She decides to flee from her lover, who runs away from the hands of law. What happens next forms the crux of the plot.

'Billa 2', a prequel to Ajith's earlier hit 'Billa' is a stylish flick that talks about how David Billa, the don emerged. 'Billa 2' is a heady mix of raw action, deadly chases and revenge knots. Ajith carries the burden on his shoulders to deliver goods. More a serious role with no tinge of humor, it is indeed a complex character ably handled by Ajith. He has very little to speak in the movie and lets his gun do all the talking. Director Chakri Toleti has tried to ensure that the brand Billa doesn't suffer anywhere and carefully woven a story with logic behind characterizations. The rise of a Lankan refugee into an international don is what the story is all about. The movie is technically rich thanks to R D Rajasekar's cinematography, Selva's art and visual effects. The movie predominantly occurs in three places - Rameswaram, Goa and Georgia. Rajasekar has captured these places in different colors providing the right feel. David Billa (Ajith) is a refugee from Lanka who seeks shelter at a camp in Rameswaram. An angry young man, David Billa raises voice against injustice meted out to the asylum-seekers by officials. Meanwhile a conspiracy is hatched and David Billa is forced to do a job for a businessman with a motive to get him in trouble. But he accomplishes the task with utmost ease and soon comes across the underworld. From here he starts climbing the ladder with his contacts after every assignment that he completes. He eventually meets Abbasi (Sudhanshu Pandey), an underworld don in Goa. Billa helps him out in a deal and wins his favor. For one of Abbasi's deals Billa goes to Georgia where he meets a ruthless international don Demitri (Vidyuth Jamwal). They get acquainted that creates a rift between Abbasi and Billa. A challenge is thrown by Billa to Abbasi and he starts building his own empire, which eventually results in Billa crossing swords with Demitri himself. The bloody battle begins in Goa and ends in Georgia.

Etho Seithai Ennai sees Shakti and Liya of 'Peranmai' fame in the lead roles and is helmed by Elvin Bosser. Shakti is head over heels for Liya at the very first sight and woos her but she has a goon for an uncle who wishes to marry Liya. Although Liya initially doesn't like Shakti and refutes his advances, later falls for the chocolate boy. Following this is a battle between Shakti and Liya's uncle. How Shakti overcomes these odds narrated as an interesting script forms the crux. The film captures various scenic foreign locales and cinematography by Ezhilarasan is quite impressive. Music by Ganesh Kumar is entertaining.

Director Rasu Madhuravan is known for tearjerkers that are set around family values and sentiments. He has opted to take a different route in Pandi Oliperukki Nilayam, which is a laugh riot with an army of comedians. Major portion of the movie revolves around Mikeset Pandi (Sabarish), a role enacted by Sabarish, son of 'FEFSI' Vijayan. After an action-oriented debut in his first film, he tries to prove his mettle in a light-hearted story and he fills it well. Sunaina is rather pretty and bubbly. She steals the show as and when she appears on screen. As Valarmathi, she is right there giving her best. There is Thambi Ramiah, Soori, Karunaas and Singam Puli who try to liven up the proceedings. Valarmathi (Sunaina), daughter of a rich landlord, falls in love with Pandi (Sabarish), who runs mike set business. He is helped by Soori in his business. When all seems to go well between Valarmathi and Pandi, a freak mishap occurs and Pandi loses sense. Now begins some interesting events in their lives. Do they join hands forms the crux.

Directed by Madhesh, Mirattal is a cocktail of everything one would expect from a masala flick. A cocktail of ingredients can be the right term for it. The film sheds the 'chocolate boy' image of Vinay and portrays the 'Unnale Unnale' man as a commercial hero. There's lots and lots of comedy to look forward to from Santhanam who is sure to have you in splits! Shankar Dhadha (Prabhu) is one of the biggest dons in Chennai. His rival (Pradeep Rawat) wants to kill Shankar's only sister Deepika (Sharmila), to avenge the death of his son who was bumped off by Shankar. Babloo (Vinay), a carefree youngster, joins as an employee in Shankar Dhadha's accounts department, which is headed by Chari (Santhanam). There he gets to know Deepika and the inevitable happens. The rest is about how Babloo manages to win Shankar Dhadha's confidence and also saves Deepika from the biggest danger she is facing. 'Mirattal' makes a good watch in any company!
